I love small cars. I always have, and I probably always will. I enjoy everything about them. In addition to the easy parking, the (typically) decent fuel economy and increased maneuverability, I simply enjoy being close to the ground in a low and wide car. How low? Well, let's just say that if I can reach out of the driver's side window with my left arm and touch the ground with my fingertips, then I know I'm in the right-sized car for me. However, a car of this size isn't very practical for everyday use -- to and from work, the grocery store and so on -- so a small, sporty, fun-to-drive compact car makes a nice replacement for those times. It's just what I'm drawn to. I like cars that are the size of the Honda Fit, the Toyota Yaris and the smart fortwo. I really do. And that's why yesterday's news was so unsettling.
